2 out of 5 stars Profile Design "Carbon Strykes." Components too heavy.   August 26, 2010
Brad M. Purdy
Dear Profile Design: Please accept this Amazon review as a respectful suggestion. Your "Carbon Stryke" aero bars have awesome potential, but are more than twice as heavy as they need to be. The clamps attaching the aero bar to the handlebar, and the armrests which are made of solid, heavyweight aluminum, weigh more than the bars. One of your reps seemed to disregard the issue as insignificant. If Profile were to either hollow out the clamps and drill holes in the armrests, or utilize carbon fiber for both, the Stryke would be the best clip-on aero bar on the market, bar none (pun intended)! Sure hope you think seriously about it. I'd love to use my Strykes again.

3 out of 5 stars When you say clip you mean clamp?   April 2, 2010

If you are not sure about investing in a full TT bike then this is a good piece to try out and see if a TT setup is for you. The finish and look of the bars is sexy, personally carbon always looks good. The assembly is straight forward. A word of caution check your horizontal bar diameter. Some handlebars have a larger diameter at where the stem and handlebar meet, from here it'll taper to a smaller diameter. If you intend to mount the bars close to the stem it will not hold because of this taper. Shims are provided but don't really help much. Other issues to be aware of is that it's a bolted clamp assembly which if you apply enough load to the bar it'll move. These are overall a good alternative to a TT bike.

5 out of 5 stars Aerobars aren't for everyone..   October 4, 2009

The Carbon Stryke aerobars are awesome. Lightweight, secure when properly mounted, comfortable to rest your elbows and hands on.

The catch is that it's not for everyone. I put the aerobars on my bike and found that I can't use it very much, because of the urban terrain I ride in-- You don't want to be in the aero position when riding down a stretch of urban street full of cracks and potholes-- You will lose your balance and wipe out. Don't ask me how I know.

I have since removed this set of aerobars from my road bike and put it on my time-trial bike instead. A very nice kit, but definitely not for casual / everyday urban-riding use!

I highly recommend these aero bars. I didn't order the FLIP UP BRACKETS but did the next day after I received them. With the addition of the flip up brackets the aero bars are out of your way of your hands on your handle bars. Get the flip up brackets at the same time. These aero bars really compliment my carbon bike.

5 out of 5 stars Profile Carbon Stryke Tri Clip on Bars   August 20, 2009

I had researched many clip on aero bars and knew what I wanted for my all carbon bike. These bars work well, easy to install and easy to adjust to fit your riding position. I like that you can adjust to different positions and have noticed that I have decreased my ride times and feel very comfortable on long rides. No negative feed back on these bars yet.
